An interesting interview of Michael Eric Dyson by Stephen Colbert. Colbert's comments regarding negative association are right on with the reasoning behind Japanese Only signs - because one foreigner may have made a mistake, someone associates that negative experience with the most obvious difference between the two: skin color.
