The VISA Arriveith
My Japanese VISA arrived today by Fedex at 1:00 PM, and the final documentation is finished unless you count boarding passes. What is a VISA to those of you who have not traveled abroad to work? Certain countries require extra certification, whether it be for vacationing, teaching English, modeling, or even working in an industrial plant. Essentially you must have a sponsoring company that can prove to the foreign government that they will employ you for a given amount of time, and the proper paperwork is then approved and you’re given a little fancy sticker to put in your passport. I’d show you a scan of mine, but I’m not sure it’s the best thing to post online, even with a low hit count site like this one. Anyway, according to my VISA, I am a specialist in the humanities.
My company called to confirm receipt of the VISA and talked to me about final preparations. Whenever I talk to the Chicago office I feel a little regret about accepting the position – I know this guy is just doing his job, but he talks to me like I must be some kind of idiot, who can’t read the paperwork provided to me. I know what I need to do to prepare. If those are the types of people my company hires, I just don’t know…
I need to have more fun before I leave the US. Birthday is coming up in less than two weeks, and money is still coming up short. Yeah, I need money.
